The addition of pesto and basil completes this dish. The broth has a seemingly neutral taste because it is less-seasoned, but the pesto sauce negates this by adding that flavorful taste. Nice dish!

This recipe involves all of my favorite vegetables and herbs. Most vegetable soups only incorporate a few ingredients, but this one is loaded. For an extra kick, I like to grind the bay leaves in my coffee grinder before adding them in. It really intensifies the herbal flavor of this dish, pairing well with the basil pesto.
